An old interview of Bigg Boss 19 contestant Kunickaa Sadanand resurfaced online, sparking controversy and drawing a sharp reaction from Jaan Kumar Sanu.
A resurfaced video of actress and Bigg Boss 19 contestant Kunickaa Sadanand has reignited debate over sexual abuse in the Hindi film industry. In the clip, Kunickaa claimed that rape does not take place in Bollywood, alleging that women often “give signals” to filmmakers, comments that quickly drew backlash from netizens.
In the viral interview, Kunickaa said, “I believe that rape doesn’t happen in our industry. Somewhere, the girl also gives a signal… I’ve never heard of anyone being raped who has been clear and straightforward.” The remarks were widely criticised as offensive and dismissive of real experiences.
Singer Kumar Sanu’s son, Jaan Kumar Sanu, was among those who reacted strongly. Commenting on the video, he accused Kunickaa of hypocrisy and claimed she had relationships with married men throughout her career. “She did this herself her whole life… otherwise many secrets will come out,” he wrote.
Kunickaa, who was in a five-year relationship with Kumar Sanu during a troubled phase in his marriage, later clarified in the same interview that she never traded her dignity for roles. She admitted to once falling in love with a married director but insisted she stayed true to her principles in the industry.
