Hyundai Creta Electric Real-World Range Tested: What Buyers Can Expect

Hyundai Creta Electric Real-World Range Tested

The Hyundai Creta Electric is finally here, and it is arguably the most exciting version of the Creta to date. While petrol and diesel models have already made their mark in the Indian market, the electric Creta brings a new flavor to the popular SUV. It is also the most expensive Creta ever launched, priced at up to ₹24.3 lakh (ex-showroom). But what really matters is how this EV performs in the real world—especially when it comes to driving range.

Battery Options and Claimed Range

The Creta Electric is available with two battery packs—42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. Hyundai claims a maximum range of 473 km for the Long Range (LR) version. While this isn’t the highest figure compared to some EV rivals, our real-world test suggests that the number is not far from reality.

Hyundai Creta Electric Real-World Range Tested

During testing, the Creta Electric LR managed close to 400 km on a full charge, which is impressive. In fact, within city conditions and with smart use of i-Pedal one-pedal driving and strong regenerative braking, the range can even exceed that number. On highways, Eco mode provided smooth yet capable performance, making it suitable for both daily commutes and long trips.

Driving Experience

The ride quality is one of the strongest points of the Creta Electric. The suspension feels cushioned, handling bad roads with ease while still delivering a comfortable cabin experience. Despite being firmer than its petrol or diesel counterparts, the EV feels more planted and silent on the road.

Rear seat passengers get an extra dose of luxury, thanks to features like the powered boss mode, making it an appealing chauffeur-driven option. Performance delivery is linear rather than sporty, which underlines Hyundai’s focus on practicality rather than outright speed.

Practicality & Ground Clearance

Another highlight is the ample ground clearance, which proved reliable even on broken or flooded monsoon roads. During our tests, the Creta Electric cleared rough patches without any scrapes, something that not all EVs in this price range can boast.

Verdict: Is the Creta Electric Worth It?

At ₹24.3 lakh, the Creta Electric is costlier than many rivals, and its range isn’t the longest in the EV segment. However, what it offers is a no-nonsense, well-rounded EV experience with comfort, features, and practicality at its core. If you’re looking for an electric SUV that delivers real-world 350–400 km range, comfort, and usability without gimmicks, the Creta Electric is a strong contender.
